Disability Network will be hosting Community Conversations from 6:00-7:30pm on February 18 at the Inside Out Gallery in Traverse City, and February 25 at the Cheboygan Area Public Library. All community members are invited to attend and share their thoughts regarding various issues. (Refreshments will be served at each event.)
The Community Conversations are taking place through a partnership between Disability Network and the Center for Michigan, a nonprofit and nonpartisan “think-and-do” tank located in Ann Arbor. Amber DeLind, Outreach Director at the Center for Michigan reported, “The Center for Michigan is leading community conversations to help Michigan residents set their agenda for Michigan in 2014 and beyond, and we're so excited for these conversations with Disability Network.” Disability Network and the Center for Michigan plan to convene the 90 minute discussions to set the agenda for Michigan in 2014.
During the discussions, participants will learn more about the key issues impacting our state, and will have the opportunity to share their priorities for Michigan’s future. “In November, Michigan will elect all of our state legislators and our next governor. These community conversations offer an opportunity to share your priorities for Michigan’s future. We want to be your bullhorn to the candidates,” stated DeLind. The conversations in Traverse City and Cheboygan will be two of more than 150 structured dialogues taking place from September 2013-April 2014.
