New Bus Routes In Emmet County! Get there with EMGO.

Emmet County and Straits Regional Ride have joined together to aid in your transportation needs! Your new bus service is expanding in Emmet County starting January 2, 2019. Daily service begins in Mackinaw City to multiple locations in Emmet County.



Get a ride to work, school, doctor appointments, shopping and recreation on the new EMGO!  EMGO/SRR (Straits Regional Ride) currently operates five days a week, Monday through Friday.  Buses run flexible routes within many communities along the way and will pick up or drop off at your front door. EMGO has also added three new bus routes to the existing SRR service.  EMGO will also expand the area receiving service to include those outside the major population centers of Petoskey and Harbor Springs with hours of operation extended to include early morning and late afternoon. With a mix of fixed-route, flex-route and Dial-a-Ride service, EMGO aims to appeal to county residents seeking alternative transportation for some or all of their weekday activities.


With one new bus route providing service along the US 31 corridor from Mackinaw City to Petoskey, beginning at 6:30 a.m. and returning to restart the same route again at 10:45 a.m., people living or staying in Emmet County will now have options for getting to work, school or appointments and for shopping. The route finishes back in Mackinaw City at 6 p.m. each weekday. Though this route focuses on the US 31 corridor, it will also provide Dial-a-Ride service in the southwestern portion of the county and allow for transfer to the Charlevoix County Transit service in the afternoon.


Another new route being offered by EMGO will focus on the Harbor Springs and Alanson areas as well as other portions of Petoskey for morning pick-ups to be dropped off at work places and shopping centers. The bus for this route picks up those morning passengers and returns them back to their original pick-up locations in the afternoon.


The third new bus route to be operated by EMGO will provide Dial-a-Ride service in and around the Petoskey area from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. It will also supplement the other two bus routes.


Emmet County officials hope the additional bus service will enhance daily life in the county by making travel safer, reducing residents’ fuel consumption and overall transportation costs as well as the carbon footprint in our beautiful region of the world. EMGO will provide options for job opportunities, aid in job retention, allow for more participation in recreational activities and other community events to connect all of the great people who live and work in Emmet County.


EMGO/SRR dispatchers will try to coordinate rides with other providers, if possible. Straits Regional Ride will continue to offer service in Emmet County, supplementing EMGO bus routes. Other transit services available in the area include Friendship Centers of Emmet CountyBay Connect and Charlevoix County Transit
