SUPER SATURDAY SPECIAL

Super Saturday Special: Show me the Money Day February 6th 2016

The Super Saturday Special hosted by the Traverse Bay Poverty Reduction Initiative offers free tax preparation services to low-to-moderate income families and individuals, seniors, persons with disabilities, and those with limited-English proficiency.

The event will take place on Saturday, February 6th, 2016 from 10am to 3:30pm at the Career Tech Center located at 880 Parsons Rd. Traverse City, MI 49686 with registration starting at 9am.  In addition to free preparation, it is also completely free to file both state and federal taxes through Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency. In comparison, other businesses’ preparation fees start at $90.00 and work their way up, costing some tax payers over $300.00.

Highlights for this year’s event include matched children’s savings accounts, resources for attending college, jumpstarting your savings, and a presentation on how to attract money by having a positive attitude. Sessions will take place throughout the day with helpful information related to the theme of “Show Me the Money”. There will also be several organizations present to provide helpful resources for community members attending.

A complimentary free lunch will be provided for those who attend the event. Supervised children activities (ages four and above) will also be available. Prizes will be given away throughout the day for participants.

Those interested in registering to attend the event may call the Area Agency on Aging at 231.590.0100 to reserve your space. This event is family friendly and free to all.

Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency, a regional non-profit agency, has been serving its 10-county service area for over 40 years through more than 140 programs, including financial management services, foreclosure and homeless prevention, emergency utility assistance, housing and home repair, supplemental food programs, senior nutrition, Head Start and weatherization programs.
